More White Rats Flee the Sinking Ship
On May 13th, 2017, UUA moderator and chief governing officer of the Unitarian Universalist Association resigned citing health reasons. [Full story here.]
His resignation letter [here] is short and to the point. His resignation was to take place immediately... there's a lot of that going around these days.
There goes another white rat as he flees the sinking ship known as the Unitarian Universalist Association. There will be more, General Assembly 2017 is only a month away. Watch 'em scurry.
Of course, this brings up questions. We could take things on face value and accept that Jim Key's resignation was based on his health, and health alone. But, where's the fun in that?
Could it be that his resignation is actually health related, and Key's health issues been an indication that stress levels at the Unitarian Universalist Association have reached toxic levels? If this is the case, all sources indicate to Devilhead that the level of toxicity will only increase following General Assembly.
I wrote the above about three weeks ago, and set it aside. Since then, it appears the stress levels were toxic, Jim Key died. [Link here.] If you think my comment upon stress levels was a joke, think again. Stress, of the type that has been going around the Unitarian Universalist Association for the past few months can and will exacerbate pre-existing conditions, including cancer, heart disease, and the like.
I don't see it stopping anytime soon. Hysteria and self-righteousness are fueling this imbroglio. Expect the rage and tensions to increase. And as this is an ideological coup [looking at you Rev. Rob Eller Issacs, looking at you Black Unitarian Universalist Lives Matter, looking at you Diverse Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Ministry] expect nothing less than ideological purity as the end goal.
Care to know what ideological purity does?
Since ideological purity cannot ever be attained, it is a constant, never-ending purge. And it won't stop. Because of the hysterical, self-righteous nature of the beast, self-reflection is anathema.
Expect stress levels to increase, exponentially.
So, another white rat flees the sinking ship of Unitarian Universalism and dies. My guess is that poor Jim Key's name will be raised more than once during this General Assembly, as much to remember him as to manipulate outcomes. [But hey, that's General Assembly.]
Rev. Don Southworth, Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association Executive Director, resigned his position as a result of the fallout of his letter to the Unitarian Universalist Association. [Letter here, but not here anymore.]
We'll look at this in depth in another post as I happen to agree with much of what Rev. Don Southworth has written. It's too bad, he's been backpedaling ever since.
Yet, another white rat flees a sinking ship.
These are the smart ones, just wait until the rest catch up...
